Shawn Torbert is the U.S. Public Affairs Manager at ROCKWOOL North America. His career in sustainable building began in 2007, when he became VP of New Business Development at Greenable, Inc., Philadelphia’s first green building material supplier. Since then he has maintained a strong focus on passive and active sustainable building materials with an “energy efficiency first” policy approach to de-carbonize the built environment. In 2009, Shawn founded his own independent manufacturer’s representative firm, TORUS 5, to introduce new high performance commercial building products to the U.S. architectural and construction markets. In 2012, Shawn became the NYC Façade Application Specialist at Trespa North America before moving to ROCKWOOL in 2014 as the NYC Architectural Manager. Shawn was promoted to the position of U.S. Public Affairs Manager in May 2018.
Shawn served on the Board of Directors of New York Passive House (NYPH) from 2014 to 2016 and co-founded the non-profit New Jersey Passive House (NJPH) chapter in 2018. Shawn currently volunteers for the Building Energy Exchange in NYC as a Passive House Instructor and is an ambassador for the North American Passive House Network (NAPHN).
Shawn has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Lehigh University; is a LEED AP and Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer; and, is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Sustainability Management at Columbia University in the City of New York.
