Joe Bliss is a seasoned mechanical engineer with over 13 years of experience, currently serving as a Project Manager and Design Engineer at B2Q Associates. His expertise spans energy-efficient HVAC design, building automation systems, and recommissioning, with a strong focus on sustainability. More recently, Joe has taken a leadership role in B2Q's Decarbonization Center of Excellence, where he has established a comprehensive process to guide customers through the electrification journey—from auditing and feasibility analysis to budgeting, infrastructure planning, final design, construction, and commissioning. Joe has led numerous major projects focused on electrification and HVAC system upgrades, where his innovative solutions have significantly reduced carbon emissions. He combines his experience with energy conservation measures and detailed HVAC design to deliver effective deep energy retrofit projects. This year, Joe has been named the Energy Engineer of the Year by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) for the AEE Northeast Region, a prestigious award that recognizes outstanding accomplishments in promoting energy engineering practices and providing superior service to the energy engineering community.
