John Rahill is the founding partner of Black River Design, Architects in Montpelier, VT. After graduating from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, he spent several years running a small general contracting firm involved in building active and passive solar homes. In 1978, he stopped doing real work and became a full time architect. Since then, his firm has grown to 17 employees and the work involves institutional, public, and residential building design, all with a focus on sustainability.
