David Unger is the founding CEO of Sentient Buildings LLC, a New York clean-tech startup that enables property owners and managers to conserve energy and reduce operating costs for multi-family, commercial and institutional buildings through a comprehensive Building Management System (BMS), while Maximizing the Value of Comfort™.
With more than 20 years’ experience growing technology-focused companies, David has been a pioneer in the use of internet and web-based technologies. In 1994, David founded MediaStream, an innovative New York web services company. As President and Lead Application Architect, he helped develop and deploy several custom B2B and intranet portal applications for clients such as Cushman & Wakefield, ABC/Disney, The New York Mercantile Exchange and Primedia. Following Computer Horizons’ acquisition of MediaStream, David spent two years as their Chief Technology Officer for the solutions division of the company and later moved on to lead his own vertically focused business unit in the Consumer Packaged Goods space. In 2006 he joined U.S. Energy Group as their Chief Technology Officer to lead the development of their USE-Manager software platform, eventually rising to become their Chief Operating Officer. Under his leadership, he introduced several new product innovations for remote building monitoring and control through a central cloud-based platform.
David holds a Master’s degree in Technology Management from Columbia University and has a BA in Political Science from Tulane University.
