Carter Wall is the Managing Director of Franklin Beach Energy, which provides asset management services for owners of commercial solar and other distributed generation assets. Prior to founding Franklin Beach, she was the Director of the Performance Solar Division of Broadway Renewable Strategies, one of the largest solar developers in the Northeast. In 2008 she was appointed by the administration of Governor Deval Patrick to lead the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust (now MassCEC), the state’s clean energy agency. Prior to her service at MassCEC, Carter was the Executive Vice President and COO of PowerOptions, Inc., supplying over $100 million of gas and electricity contracts annually.
During more than 25 years in the energy industry, she has led financial and program planning teams for a number of large-scale energy and infrastructure projects, including planning for Harvard University’s new campus and a multi-billion-dollar modernization of O’Hare Airport. She was an Associate in the Global Utilities Investment Banking division of Merrill Lynch, and Assistant Director of the Harvard Electricity Policy Group.
Carter serves on the Boards of Directors of New England Women in Energy and the Environment, The Future Face of American Energy, and the Franklin County Farm Bureau, and is also past Chairman of the Board of the Pinchot Institute for Conservation. Carter is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and she lives in Leverett, Massachusetts.
