Decarbonizing with Heat Pumps (in a Low GWP A2L World) - Part 1: Hydronic Distribution Systems

As hydronic heat pump systems enter their second generation with updated A2L refrigerant technology, it is imperative to reflect on lessons learned from first-generation systems and determine best practices moving forward. New advancements like unitary high lift machines, high temp booster machines, and alternative heat sources are opening up new possibilities to implement more efficient, more sustainable, and more economic hydronic heat pump systems. In this session we will dive into the exciting opportunities that this transition provides for the industry. Both system-level and equipment-level optimizations will be discussed, along with how these developments in hydronic systems compare to other non-hydronic heat pump systems. Furthermore, we will take a peak at what third-generation systems will look like, and how we can make choices today to better prepare ourselves for the future.
