Michelle Apigian AIA, LEED AP, CPHC, is a Managing Principal at ICON Architecture in Boston, MA. An architect and urban planner, she combines optimism and pragmatism to design sustainable environments that strengthen communities and celebrate the uniqueness of place. She has worked on a broad array of project types and scales, from large, multi-phase master plans and design and construction of new multifamily developments to strategic infill, adaptive reuse and modernization projects. Regardless of scale, her holistic approach prioritizes team collaboration, underpinned by rigor, transparency, and accountability. As Environment Social Governance Director, Michelle advocates for systems thinking and data-driven feedback loops to ensure that ICON consistently upholds our values.
Her work includes numerous Passive House certified projects, including the first market rate and affordable multifamily projects in Massachusetts ,as well as numerous LEED and EGC certified projects. Michelle received a B.A. from Dartmouth and an M.Arch and Master of City Planning from MIT. She serves on the Board of several organizations, including Somerville Community Corporation and Passive House Massachusetts.
