Addressing Thermal Bridges that Arise During Construction
Catching and solving thermal bridges in the building envelope that arise during construction can truly be the determining factor between whether the finished building meets the intended designed performance or not. All too often we see a thermal bridge that was not anticipated during design. This can happen because of a change in systems due to the VE process, installation sequencing, or a complex geometry that is not fully coordinated until installation. This session will use case study examples to illustrate strategies for addressing these dilemmas.

Learning Objectives:
- Identify thermal bridges in the building envelope that arise during construction
- Analyze solutions to mitigate thermal bridging challenges during the construction phase
- Employ strategies to proactively communicate with stakeholders regarding design and construction coordination related to thermal bridging
- Define how to execute complex geometry in accordance with models and details in the context of new energy codes and best practices for sequencing work in the field
