Summary/Objective
Abode provides services to utilities and government agencies to administer residential energy efficiency programs and help accelerate the adoption of decarbonization measures (such as air-source heat pumps) by providing outreach, education, consultations, and technical assistance to contractors, homeowners, community advocates, and other stakeholders.  One of the critical elements of these programs is to qualify and support networks of contractors across a range of trades (electrical, HVAC, mold remediation, etc.) to scope and deliver high-quality services to homeowners to implement these energy efficiency and decarbonization measures. 
The Contractor Network Manager will lead Abode’s work in recruiting, onboarding, training, and engaging with contractors in a fashion that helps ensure the best possible customer experience.  Success in this position will lie in building out and supporting robust networks of contractors and in meaningfully vetting contractors for their ability to deliver consistent quality. This is a terrific opportunity for a well-organized, seasoned professional with experience, ideally, in interacting with a diverse range of building contractors and with government and utility weatherization and decarbonization programs to apply their strong communication, analytic, and project management skills. 

Responsibilities
Reporting to Abode’s VP of Product and Technical Services and working in close partnership with staff across all of Abode’s service lines, this position will include some or all of the following responsibilities:

  • Work closely with senior managers across Abode to catalog partner/client goals and kpi’s for contractor engagement across all of Abode’s programs and assess where current processes for achieving these goals could be improved
  • Design and propose a plan for improving Abode’s systems for more effectively and efficiently managing such engagement over time, with clearly identified priorities and timelines
  • Implement the plan, which will include:
    • Creating and using an evaluation rubric that makes clear with contractors should be considered for more highly vetted referral networks
    • Engaging, evaluating and onboarding new contractors
    • Conducting contractor training initiatives focused on program protocols, compliance, and quality assurance
    • Defining rules and requirements for ongoing evaluation and off-boarding, if needed, of contractors
  • Regularly re-evaluating and implementing improvements to Abode’s processes for engaging with contractors in a fashion that best balances needs of Abode’s partners/clients, contractors, and homeowners serviced by those contractors.  Work across Abode teams to understand and assess our current processes for contractor engagement, onboarding, training, etc

Qualifications
Strong candidates for this position will bring most, if not all, of the following skills and experience:

  • Five or more years of experience working for or with home performance trades at a management level
  • Experience working with air source heat pumps or other decarbonization technologies
  • Willingness to build upon a strong existing knowledge of actual in-home install practices to build trusted and reputable installer networks 
  • Familiarity with navigating government or utility incentive programs
  • Experience with recruiting, training, and administering networks of vendors, partners, or other organizations
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and tasks appropriately, balancing high-level objectives and attention to critical details
  • Strong analytical skills; comfortable with defining, measuring, and managing to key performance indicators
  • Demonstrated strengths in working collaboratively across internal programs and teams
  • Strong, effective oral and written communication skills; both 1:1 and in group presentations
    • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese, as well as English, is a plus
  • Aptitude to quickly learn and work with software such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Salesforce
  • Comfortable with financial management and budgeting
  • Adaptable, flexible, collaborative team player with a positive can-do attitude
  • A self-starter, able to anticipate and overcome obstacles as needed

Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt position with total compensation targeted between $90K and $110K, depending on relevant skills and experience. The Contractor Network Manager will work primarily out of their own home, with some travel as needed (with mileage/travel expenses reimbursed) to meet face-to-face with contractors and attend events.  Abode offers its employees a competitive benefits package, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability Insurance, a matching 401k, and fully paid Parental Leave.
